Description
This Sunday, Mike McClung took a detour from the Fear of the Lord series to discuss the subject of Shame. The first result of the Fall of Adam and Eve was the crippling weight of shame. Since then, the devil has used shame as a tool to paralyze believers and keep us from our Father, though the Blood of Jesus is always enough. When we sin, we feel guilt for doing wrong. This should drive us back to the Father to seek His forgiveness. Instead, the devil twists it into shame. We feel that we ARE wrong, and we ARE a mistake. Until it is addressed by the love and forgiveness of the Father, we live lives of appearance management, focused on ourselves, and our attempts to extend the gospel are veiled at best. We need our eyes opened–not just to our sin, but to the power of His redemption and His answer to shame.
