Need God?

There are times in your life when thoughts of the afterlife need to be answered or when the weight of sinful living overwhelms your soul. These thoughts and emotions are the goodness of God, who created you, drawing you to the place where you can seek Him and find Him.

God loves you and has designed an awesome plan for your life now and throughout eternity. His plan is for you to live a hope filled, overcoming life now and a blessed life in eternity.

In the Bible, the book of Jeremiah the prophet, God gives this invitation:

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call to Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity…” Jeremiah 29:10-12

God is extending an invitation for you to speak to Him, to find Him, and know Him. He will bring you out of your captivity. What captivity is He speaking of? The answer is the captivity of sin and separation from Him.

Going to the Bible again, we find out everything about God, who He is and His desire and ability toward mankind. The Holy Scripture declares man separated himself from God through acts of disobedience and rebellion against God’s instructions from living unto Him.

These acts are called sin, you feel them in your soul, see the effects all around you. No one is excluded from sin; everyone except God and His Son Jesus Christ has sinned; and sin separates us from God.

Read thoughtfully these few scriptures to understand how God can take your sin away, take away the fear of the unknown and restore your relationship with Him.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God”

God has a glorious ideal for life and living, incredible love and power awaiting you.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”

God made up His mind about you even before you ever knew Him. He knew sin would separate you, so in His great love for you He made a way for you to be forgiven of your sins, delivered out of captivity and restored into a living relationship with Him. The power of sin is great, unforgiven sin leads to eternal separation from God. Sin must be dealt with in the process of seeking God and being restored to Him.

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”

God sent His Son, Christ Jesus, who willingly came to obtain our salvation from sin by paying the price of His life for us. Being beaten and humiliated, then hung on a cross, the Roman soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a sword, confirming His death for the sins of mankind. This act paid the price for all of mankind’s sin to those who believe. Isaiah the prophet speaks of this atonement for our sins:

“Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5

The Bible goes on to tell us that on the third day, Christ Jesus came and met with Mary, somehow being alive. After she reported this to the other disciples, they ran to the tomb to find it was exactly as Mary had said. Jesus had risen from the dead, overcoming death and the grave. It’s the awesome historical truth; Jesus was seen by over 500 people over a period of 40 days after His resurrection.

God accepted His payment for sin for all who will believe in Christ Jesus. Furthermore, the Bible declares that those who hear and believe this truth will be forgiven of their sin. Also, the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead would also come and live in us, giving us power over the grave as well. The Holy Spirit of God comes into us the moment our faith believes these truths.

A supernatural event takes place in a moment of time. You are forgiven your sins, translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the Son of God’s love. You are regenerated inside – made new – made whole – made clean and pure. So what’s left to do now?

Just pray this prayer and believe it in your heart:

“God, I now believe that Jesus Christ, Your only begotten Son, came to earth by Your love. I believe he died on the cross to take away my sin, to restore me to You, and to fill me with Your love and Your Spirit. I believe Jesus Christ rose from the dead on the third day to accomplish my salvation and give me the gift of eternal life. I now confess all the wrong and sinful things I have done in my life, and ask you by the shed blood and beaten body of Christ Jesus to forgive me. I ask You to make me whole and fill me with Your Holy Spirit, deliver me from evil and a life of sin.

“Thank You, God for forgiving me, giving me eternal life and Your Holy Spirit. I now know and believe that I am truly saved and born again. I will live forever with you in paradise. Thank You, God! Thank You, Jesus! Thank You, Holy Spirit!”
