Month of Prayer and Fasting in the State of Tennessee – July 2025

On May 2nd, 2025 Governor Bill Lee signed HJR 51 into law, dedicating the month of July as a Month of Prayer and Fasting in the state of Tennessee annually. The legislation was authored by TN Representative Monty Fritts (32nd District) as “A RESOLUTION to seek Almighty God’s hand of ever-present mercy and healing on Tennessee.

The resolution is truly unprecedented. This resolution recognizes the sins of the state of TN; it also “ask[s] the Lord Jesus to heal our land” and “invite[s] the Holy Spirit to fill our halls of government, our classrooms, our places of business, our churches, and our homes…” You can read the entire document here.

What This Means for Blount County

Rep. Fritts is calling for the Body of Christ to take things from here. He is limited by the oaths and duties of his elected office, and he knows that for this to work, the Body of Christ must spread the word about this, organize gatherings and most importantly, make repentance a priority above all else.

Across the state, Solemn Assemblies are being planned in each county to bring a local, corporate expression of our prayer, repentance and petition for mercy. Blount County is holding a Solemn Assembly on the steps of the Blount County Court House on Saturday, July 19th at 10:30AM EST. The address is 345 Court St, Maryville, TN 37804. Several pastors, intercessors, local leaders will be present to read the resolution, and lead prayers of repentance. Join us as we stand before the Lord on behalf of Blount County!

There is Another Need

It would be tremendous if the local Mayors, Sheriffs, Judges or other elected officials could be present to join in the prayers for mercy before God. But someone must tell them what’s happening and invite them. In the days of Jonah, the repentance was initiated by the King. This was repentance that the Lord heard and responded to with mercy.
