Description

This week, Mike McClung returned to the “Life in the Body of Christ” series with the message “Comparing Ephesus and Corinth”. In our continuing journey to truly “Abide in Christ”, (John 15:1-8), it is good to have examples of what to do and what NOT to do, on a personal and community level. In Corinth, spirituality was focused on externals–the use of public spiritual gifts, questions about allegiance to different “camps” or “apostles”, and human reasonings about spiritual matters–and the results were a mess of division, carnality, and immaturity. In Ephesus, it was completely different. The community of believers was focused on the internal work of surrender to Christ in the daily life. That pursuit produced the resurrection life of Christ with vast external effect: a church that experienced true Apostolic Revival (Acts 19), with massive conviction of sin and lasting change. Which church are we similar to?
